Job Description:
We are looking for a freelance creative and persuasive blog writer to write clear and concise copy for social media, lead magnets and website content. Your words will inform, engage and most importantly add value to a variety of target audiences – most often in order to either; drive followers, drive action or provoke new thoughts. Our ideal candidate is a collaborative, skilled and imaginative writer with a talent for making messages resonate. If you can take an idea/suggestion or thought and turn it into a tangible piece of content we’d like to meet you. As our content writer you will be responsible for the following tasks:
✔ Writing blogs and articles revolving around industry trends whilst blending clients products/services into them – whether that be directly or by capturing the details using appropriately placed CTAs for lead magnets that talk about services/products.
✔ Transforming macro-level (Webinars, blogs, articles, podcast) content into micro-content (IG carousels, short-form LinkedIn posts, eBlasts).
✔ Writing copy for post captions and adapting the caption for different platforms (changing the wording to make it appropriate for each platform).
✔ Collaborate with the graphic designer, video editor and the rest of the team to create eye-catching, thought-provoking content across social media and our website.
Requirements:
✔ Personalization is Key – no matter the style our content needs to resonate. We need to position our content as the solution to our audience’s problems and the route to their desires. Our message must be personalized to target those.
✔ Foundational – use SEO principles to maximize content reach.
✔ Always Be Closing – sure, our content should be easy to read, light and valuable. But we’re doing it for a reason – we always want to be closing our audience, sure we may nurture them first, but the end goal is always the lead or the sale. You need to be consistently thinking of how your writing is going to drive action.
✔ Ability to write to deadlines – as, with a lot of digital marketing departments, most of the team’s work meets at the same deadline and then gets collated together to build killer campaigns. Here it is no different, you must be able to match the deadlines set and synchronise with the team.
✔ Great research skills – there are going to be times where you don’t get to write about the topics you enjoy covering the most. Quite often you will need to conduct research to write at the highest quality and level of detail. This research may involve reading documents, gaining an understanding of the overall climate, and sourcing out news articles. You must be prepared to do the research as well as the writing.
✔ Audience understanding – more important than researching the topic, is researching the audience.
✔ No matter what you are writing about, there is always going to be a reader on the other end. It is crucial that you understand who your audience is and the type of language they’re looking for, the phrases and acronyms they’ll understand, and the tone or sense of humor that they will relate to.
✔ Excellent project management and collaboration skills, we’re looking for team players.
